Dear Pit Bull Seminar Attendee:

Below are UPDATED details including the confirmed date of Tuesday, MARCH 30, 2010 at 7 pm at Buzzy’s Bow Wow Meow for the Pit Bull Seminar.  The reasons the date is 2 months beyond late January 2010 are the following:

1.   I just received confirmation from the University of PA Vet School that they have reserved the afternoon of March 30, 2010 for Animal Farm Foundation to present their Power Point to the vet students.  Animal Farm Foundation, which is located in upstate New York, will be driving to Philadelphia to present their wonderful pro-pit bull Power Point on March 30, 2010.  The presentation to the Penn vet students will consist of only the Animal Farm Foundation presentation; whereas, the 7 PM program at Buzzy’s on March 30, 2010 will contain much additional information, videos and presentations, as per BELOW.

2.   I just returned from the Miami area which enacted (many years ago) Breed Specific Legislation pursuant to which thousands of dogs, allegedly identified as “pit bulls” by animal control officers, have been confiscated from owners’ homes and euthanized.  I met with Dahlia Canes, the director and founder of Miami Coalition Against Breed Specific Legislation and other board members of her group.  I am now committed to assisting them in attempting to overturn Breed Specific Legislation in the Miami area.  By holding the Seminar in late March I will be able to provide additional information on how pit bull advocates in one of our major cities are planning to eliminate BSL.

3.   The additional time will enable me, within my crazy schedule, to prepare an educational pamphlet presenting facts as to why we should “Punish the Deed and Not the Breed”.

4.   I am heavily involved with the group “PinUps for PitBulls” which is marketing a 2010 calendar with monthly photos PinUps women and their pit bulls.  PinsUps is marketing this calendar throughout the country; it is available for sale at Buzzy’s for $20.   The premiere episode of Animal Planet’s new PitBull-themed reality TV show: “Pit Boss” will be shown at 10 pm on Saturday, January 16, 2010, and will be featuring “PinUps for PitBulls”.  Please tune in or record this episode.

5.   In connection with my work with Pin Ups for Pit Bulls, Buzzy’s is creating an internet shopping site which will enable dog owners throughout the country to purchase products from Buzzy’s.  In addition to customary products we will be selling such items as PinUps’ calendar, Pit Bull books, etc.  The creation of this shopping site will involve months of organization.  As per products sold at our store, we will be selling “top of the line” products, shipping anywhere in the world, at reasonable, competitive prices.

Below is a summary of this educational seminar:

1. Introducing "ordinary folks" with their Pit Bulls/Pit Bull mixes, all of which were adopted or rescued from shelter type operations, some of which had been involved in dog fighting. These owners will tell their personal stories of what loving, fantastic, family oriented dogs their Pit Bulls are.

2. We will be showing on our large screen TVs several short videos of individuals and families sharing wonderful experiences with their Pit Bulls.

3. Expert speakers from Animal Farm Foundation, Inc. will be showing a fantastic Power Point evidencing the "true facts" about Pit Bulls and BSL. This knowledgeable group will also discuss their Pit Bull experiences.

4. We will have adoptable Pit Bulls for the audience to meet to understand that Pit Bulls have gotten a bum rap and are not the "killer dogs" often portrayed by the news media for sensational shock value.

5. Trainers who are experts in training Pit Bulls as household companions and family pets will be discussing their experiences.

6. We will be handing out a free several page Brochure stating the true favorable facts about Pit Bulls, which is contrary to the media sensationalism of the last 10+ years and which also will contain a summary of why BSL does not work.

7. We hope the general public will increase their Pit Bull adoptions and understand why BSL does not work. By being educated animal lovers, we can help put an end to judging a dog by its breed and not by its deed, which has resulted in needless euthanasia of innocent animals.

When Ed Fritz, Director of Best Friends' Animal Society's campaign: Pit Bulls: Saving America's Dog was at the PSPCA on August 27, 2009 Buzz hand fed dozens of dogs in the main adoption area of the PSPCA. About 80% of these dogs were Pit Bull/Pit Bull mixes. Even though Buzz spent only a few minutes, at most, with any one of the dogs, there was not one who did not appear adoptable as a great family pet. Because they felt so highly of the pits they encountered that afternoon, Buzz and his wife talked their daughter and son-in-law (both in their 40's) into adopting their first dog, a Pit Bull mix from the PSPCA.

We intend conducting similar events thru the time that Cyrus Mejia's art exhibit, "Pits & Perception" is brought to Philadelphia in 2010. Cyrus is a founder of Best Friends & his Exhibit contains large portraits of the Michael Vick Pit Bulls rehabbed at Best Friends.

Many thanks for your support!
